Educational Content

Achieving educational goals is possible through “educational content.” This is where the fundamental importance of “what to teach” and “what to learn” becomes evident. Content refers to “what to teach, learn, and apply.” This concept reflects the three dimensions of content: “knowledge and understanding,” “attitude and belief,” and “skill and ability.” The Master’s Programs Board at Khatam Al-Nabieen (PBUH) University bases its selection of educational content on three principles: “content validity,” “content usefulness,” and “content prioritization”.

Duration of the Educational Program

The duration of the program here is one academic cycle (the time required to complete master’s credits), which is two to three years. Course credits are distributed across four semesters based on foundational and advanced courses, ensuring sufficient time in the fourth semester for thesis preparation. Students who defer or fail to achieve the required grades in some subjects (provided their GPA does not fall below the legal threshold) can complete their coursework within three years.

Course Credits

A course credit is a unit of study that constitutes the academic workload of a master’s program, determined by semester and class hours for each subject, ranging from 40 to 48 credits in a master’s program. At Khatam Al-Nabieen (PBUH) University, 40 credits are set for one academic cycle, with each two credits taught over 32 hours (16 class sessions).

1- Law Program

Overview of the Law Program

Law is a robust and fruitful branch of social science that explains, analyzes, interprets, and elucidates the emergence, application, and sustainability of binding social rules and regulations. This field has numerous branches, but as mentioned, Khatam Al-Nabieen University offers only “International Law” and “Criminal Law and Criminology”.

Attraction of the Law Program

The law program, like perennial springs of life, has many appealing and rational attractions. This appeal is due to several reasons outlined below:

Understanding Life: Law is the science of life’s rules; through law, students not only learn about their rights and duties but also become familiar with the teaching, application, correction, and completion of binding and life-enhancing social rules.

Mental Creativity: Law is the science of mental exercise; the legal mind engages with legal texts, national and international conventions, customs, and social problems, necessitating innovative solutions and clear interpretations.

Power of Reasoning: Law is the science of argumentation; the foundations, sources, nature, purposes, logic, and issues of law develop within the realm of reasoning. A lawyer needs to present and organize arguments effectively in the pursuit of justice.

Social Prestige: Law is the science of social value; people regard lawyers as individuals with superior talent, principled behavior, adherence to the law, and a commitment to justice, earning their trust, respect, and esteem.

Career Opportunities: Law is the science of the job market and efficiency; the key to a clean job market and a culture of decent employment opportunities (e.g., judiciary, legal practice, guardianship, trusteeship, management, drafting legal documents, and legislation) lies in the field of law. In short, law is a poetic profession, free from the worries of daily sustenance.

Educational Objectives of the Law Program

The objectives of the law program are the positions the educational program is designed to achieve, as reflected in the following statements:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the nature, foundations, purposes, sources, and logic of Afghanistan’s legal system, international documents, and the role of Islamic jurisprudence at this level;
  • Analysis and application of Afghanistan’s legal obligations and international documents in private international life, social and administrative relations;
  • Evaluation and application of mandatory and supplementary rules governing fair political participation, good governance, and national and international transactions and interactions;
  • A value-oriented perspective and ability to use civil, criminal, and judicial rules and principles in the process of filing, adjudicating, and defending cases, providing consultations, judging, and resolving international legal and criminal disputes;
  • Skill and creativity in interpreting legal sources and the ability to train human resources based on national and international legal systems;
  • Readiness and proficiency in conducting specialized scientific research, writing legal texts, explaining the Islamic legal system and international law, and comparing legal systems using rational arguments.

International relations explores the foundations and methods of such values in the behavior of states.

The International Relations Program Committee is an executive unit that, under the supervision of the board, organizes and coordinates the master’s programs in international relations at the Faculty of Political Science.
