Encouraging students to research and researching activities is an integral part of higher education program. Therefore, the faculty of computer science had planned to conduct an Essay writing workshop for the purpose of encouraging students to research and researching activities. The workshop was attended by students from various universities such as Polytechnic University, Allameh University, Faculty of Computer Science and other faculties of Khatam Al-Nabieen University. Following is a brief report on the presentation of this workshop:

The training workshop started according to the preset scheduled with a half-hour delay (due to some technical problems, as well as untimely presence of students).  At first, Mohammad Ali Fahimi, the head of the Computer Science faculty began the program by talking about the following:

• The importance of attention to research and writing
• position of Khatam al-Nabieen University in some international rankings
• purpose of the workshop
• Introducing the workshop trainers
• And Welcome to the audience.

Subsequently, the guests of the program “Engineer Hasan Tamssoki” came up to the stage, and started his presentation in two segments: At the first segment, the following was explained to students:

• Definition of article,
• Importance of writing,
• Ways to strengthen writing skills,
• Types of articles,
• Sections of a standard article;

At the end of the first part, there is was a short tea break and then the professor continued the second segment of the seminar. In this section, the following topics were covered:

• Title of article,
• Introduction,
• problem statement,
• Report of research methodology,
• Discussion,
• Result,
• Referrals,
• Ethics in research.
• Reference software;

It is worth noting that during the course of training the professor tried to involve the students with various questions and exercises. After the presentation of the professor, polls were conducted among the students in order to get information about general opinion of students. According to the survey, students were generally satisfied and asked for more such programs but others requested for better awareness, timely holding of sessions and fixing technical problems before the start of the program.
